JASPER® Transmission Process
Thorough Cleaning
Each JASPER® reman transmission is completely disassembled and cleaned to remove contaminants that cause premature wear to gears, bearings, shafts, and valve bodies. Components are hand-washed and carefully inspected, with bushing surfaces polished to a micro finish for extended life and proper lubrication.
Exact Tolerances
Transmission technology demands precise machining and consistent tolerances for correct operating pressures. JASPER® maintains these exact standards through:
- Case and valve body resurfacing
- Profilometer inspection for precision shaft finishes
- Pump and gear gauging and re-machining for perfect fit
- Specialized updates, such as installing a machine-in-place bushing in 5R110 pump housings for precise converter hub alignment

We utilize HOTFLUSH machines to flush transmission cooler and lines before installation to insure a sterile transmission system.
Torque Converters
Torque converters are cut open, thoroughly cleaned, and rebuilt with new washers, spacers, springs, rollers, and lock-up clutch pistons. Turbine fins are tightened and welded, hubs replaced, and converters are pressure tested and dynamically balanced to eliminate vibration and ensure flawless operation.
Valve Bodies
Valve bodies are completely disassembled, cleaned, resurfaced, and rebuilt by experienced technicians. Each component is checked for wear before reassembly and tested using an Answermatic test unit that simulates real driving conditions—verifying hydraulic integrity, shift accuracy, and performance under load.
Transmission Pre-Inspection
Before assembly, transmissions undergo pressurized fluid testing to check for circuit leaks and confirm hydraulic performance. This step ensures every transmission meets JASPER®’s strict performance standards before final assembly begins.
New and Qualified Parts
All JASPER® remanufactured transmissions receive a consistent set of new and qualified parts, including clutches, seals, gaskets, and electronic components. Assemblies are performed by ASE-Certified and JASPER®-Certified technicians who specialize in specific transmission families.
Dynamometer Testing
Every JASPER® automatic transmission is dynamometer tested to verify proper shifting, pressure, and engagement. Tests include:
- Stall and leak checks
- Lock-up clutch tests
- Park function verification
- Full and closed-throttle RPM simulations
Manual transmissions are bench tested for gear engagement, bearing noise, and detent alignment.
